Welcome to Hopscotch in Preston Park – a long established nursery serving the Preston Park community of Brighton. We are conveniently located near London Road and Preston Park railway station for easy access to the town centre; the local bus routes are 5a and 5b.

We have four main rooms; all are large and spacious with a light and airy atmosphere. Our babies have their own room, providing a safe and stable environment for them to play and develop with their own equipment and toys. They also have their own sensory area which helps improve their sensory awareness; they participate in messy play which they love, with stories, signing and lots of cuddles.

At Preston Park we are very excited to have a fantastic new softroom in our nursery. Our children enjoy climbing the soft steps and sliding into the ball pool, and benefit from the opportunity to bounce around and let off steam. It challenges and encourages their physical development and provides opportunities to socialise with their friends. Weekly peripatetic French and Spanish lessons improve their language skills.

Our children enjoy a stimulating variety of activities throughout the day in our large playroom with a cosy book area , role play area,  ICT and construction areas. There are a variety of floor and table top toys too, plus daily group times which include dancing, singing and story times. Our messy room is lots of fun – we do all sorts of themes and topics in creative play using many types of materials and textures. We have an exciting recently refurbished garden with large physical equipment, outdoor music area, planting area and a large abacus. At Preston Park we use Makaton, which is a unique language programme using signs and symbols to help teach communication and language.

We love organising fundraising events as this means lots of dressing up days and fun activities for the children and staff; we also enjoy celebrating different festivals such as Chinese New Year, Diwali and Hanukkah.  Our parents are involved in our annual fete which has raised many thousands of pounds for charity over the years. There are many interesting visitors to our nursery including farm animals and wriggly roadshow, and the emergency services, dentist and doctor who all talk to the children about what they do and how they help us. These visits are always a hit with the children.

Our friendly and professional staff welcome you to visit our nursery and see for yourself the many fun and educational activities on offer for your child.
