Welcome to Hopscotch Seaford Nursery, situated in the heart of the community in the centre of town, close to the train station and bus routes to Brighton, Lewes and Eastbourne. We are a 92 place nursery for 0-8 year olds, set within our large old school building; our light and airy rooms are decorated with bright murals and wall displays. Our team of fully qualified staff have been with Hopscotch for many years, all of which have extensive knowledge to assist with issues such as toilet training.
We love organising fundraising events as this means lots of dressing up days and fun activities for the children and staff. There are many interesting visitors to our nursery including farm animals and wriggly roadshow, and the emergency services, dentist and doctor who all talk to the children about what they do and how they help us. These visits are always a hit with the children.
Babies and children under 2 years have their own rooms providing a safe and stable environment for them to play and develop with their own equipment and age-appropriate toys. They have a sleep room, nappy changing room and coat storage. There is a peaceful but stimulating atmosphere for babies to grow and discover new skills. Our babies also have a sensory room which helps improve their sensory awareness; they participate in messy play which they love, with stories, singing and lots of cuddles.
Our children aged between 2 and 5 years enjoy a stimulating variety of childcare activities throughout the day in our four large and spacious rooms. We offer a variety of interesting themes and topics in creative play using many types of materials and textures in our messy room including art and craft, sand and water, painting, gluing, sticking, junk modelling and lots more. We also offer focused activities centred on the Early Years Foundation Stage. The playroom and classroom also provide a fun and stimulating learning environment with areas for imaginary and role play, reading and writing, maths and problem solving and construction, enabling children to develop at their own rate. The children also have access to our sensory room which helps improve their sensory awareness. There are a variety of floor and table top toys too, plus daily dancing, singing and story times, peripatetic Dancing lessons and Spanish lessons give children the opportunity to learn a new language and in a fun way.
At Seaford we are very excited to have a fantastic softroom in our nursery. Our children enjoy climbing the soft steps and sliding into the ball pool, and benefit from the opportunity to bounce around and let off steam. It challenges and encourages their physical development and provides opportunities to socialise with their friends. Hopscotch Seaford has a large, secure, outdoor area for the children to explore the many learning opportunities. Areas include a climbing frame, growing garden with vegetables, digging area, large wooden gazebo, role play and physical play on bikes and scooters with lots of room to run around.
We are also able to offer a Kids Club for children up to the age of 8; this may include our breakfast club and a holiday scheme during all school holidays.
Our friendly and professional staff welcome you to visit our nursery and see for yourself the many fun and educational activities on offer for your child. Hopscotch Seaford is one of our five nurseries in East Sussex.
SEND Local Offer: On induction to our setting the Key person and parents share information about the strengths and needs of their child. The parents have the opportunity to accompany their child on a visit to help settle them and develop a relationship with the Key Person. The child will always be at the heart of what we do. We work with the parents and support the child together for more effective quality of care. When additional support is identified for the child’s development, he/she will be give an Individual Eduction Plan (IEP) which is reviewed every six weeks. Our SENDco will explain how children’s individual needs can be met by planning strategies and targets using the IEP and the advice of a specialist support team and other professionals involved in their support. The Key Person will work with the SENDco to oversee the IEP targets for your child. They will also work with other practitioners to ensure provision is relevant and appropriate, and seek support when needed. For more information please see our Local Offer in full.
