Hopscotch Olympics 2012

Posted on by Hopscotch Staff

Children at Hopscotch have been joining in the Olympic spirit.
At Nizells Avenue Geraldine Bloomfield (Frankie and Beaus mum) who is a Community Olympics Coordinator helped officiate our Mini Olympics.  We started off with  an Olympic Oath “I promise to try my absolute best and have fun” then an opening ceremony of nursery made flag waving and big olympic torch passing. Then we had a warm up routine with staff member, Lucy, followed by relay races, cycling events, and bean bag throwing games such as bean bag basketball.  All the children received a medal and an official certificate and a big sticker.
At Peacehaven the children and staff held their own torch relay, opening ceremony with a parade of flags from different countries, lots of sports including an obstacle course and jelly races.
Portland Road children celebrated by painting Olympic Rings, face painting, torch making and sports such as egg and spoon races.
Preston Park had an exciting visit from an official Olympic Torch!!
