Portland Road Supports Kabuki UK Charity
1st August 2012
During the last few months staff at Hopscotch Portland Road have organised various charity events and fund raisers in aid of the Kabuki UK charity. This specific charity is very close to us as a little girl called Thalia, who attends our Green room at Portland Road, suffers from this extremely rare disorder. We have been working with Thalia’s family to raise as much money as we can for the Kabuki charity; it needs £2500 to become a registered charity. Our fund raising activities have included selling personalised group tea towels, a charity auction and raffle. One of our main fund raisers was a sponsored walk on Saturday 7th July from Brighton Pier to the West Pier. Staff, parents children and friends joined Thalia and her family for the walk, attracting lots of attention in our bright green Kabuki UK t-shirts. We raised money as we went along, shaking buckets and giving out leaflets, raising awareness for the charity. The weather was quite kind to us as it only started raining just as we finished the walk. Thank you to everyone who took part and for all who donated to this worthy cause. So far we have raised £1500 and still have more to come!
