Staff in the Spotlight – Renee Hopscotch Portland Road
27th May 2022
We would like to extend a huge congratulations to Renee at our Portland Road nursery. Renee recently qualified with the highest possible grade for her apprenticeship training, receiving some outstanding feedback from her accessor, reflecting her hard work and dedication.
As a member of our specialist Baby Room team, Renee works extremely hard to provide outstanding childcare to the children in our Blue Group. We are extremely happy that Renee’s hard work has been recognised and are thrilled to share a snippet of this fantastic feedback with you.
‘You clearly are very experienced and knowledgeable with regards to all of your settings policies into practice and the importance of these. But impressively throughout, you further demonstrated and reinforced this with your eloquent use of terminology, naturally, continuously and fluently, and it was absolutely delightful to listen to your answers.
England is lucky you have chosen it to now live in! Especially your setting and the children and their families you work with.’
Please see our interview with Renee below to find out more about her experience and passion for childcare.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I love seeing how the children begin to develop. Not only physically, but it is also so lovely seeing their different personalities begin to shine through.
What is your favourite activity to do with the children?
One of my favourite activities to do with the children is messy play! Messy play with shaving foam or porridge oats is a great play activity for the children but also gives them the chance to explore different textures whilst beginning to practice using objects such as cups and spoons.
What is the best thing about working for Hopscotch?
The team. Everyone is so friendly and supportive not only at Portland Road but also at the other Hopscotch nurseries. I love the feeling of being a part of a supportive community that comes with working for Hopscotch.
What advice would you give someone who was starting out a career in childcare?
Building a strong connection with the children is your care is so important this will help you to fulfill their interests and needs while developing a key attachment.
What is your favourite children’s book?
It has to be either The Hungry Caterpillar or Cows in the Kitchen!
What do other team members have to say about Renee?
‘Renee is extremely dedicated to her role. She contributes daily to outstanding childcare, and we feel privileged to have her on our team. During her isolation period to enter New Zealand when she went home to get married she undertook our online training modules during this period and completed 5 courses on Allergens, Environments in early years, Autism awareness, Positive behaviour and COSHH. This demonstrates her willingness to go over and above’ – Lorraine, Hopscotch Portland Road Nursery Manager
Once again, we would like to take the opportunity to congratulate Renee on all of her hard work – we are very proud!
