Welcome to Hopscotch Seaford our nursery for babies and children 0-8 years. Our friendly and professional, graduate led staff welcome you to enjoy the many fun and educational activities. Our light and airy rooms are decorated with bright murals and wall displays and you won’t believe how large and spacious they are until you step inside, so book your visit today to see for yourself. Hopscotch Seaford is one of our two nurseries in East Sussex.
Our older children enjoy a stimulating variety of childcare activities throughout the day in our four large and spacious rooms. We offer a variety of interesting themes and topics in creative play using many types of materials and textures in our messy room including art and craft, sand and water, painting, gluing, sticking, junk modelling and lots more.
There are a variety of creative and exploratory activities in our messy room including sand and water play, arts and crafts, play dough and clay, and cooking such as making our own bread. All activities are centred around the Early Years Foundation Stage to help children learn through play.
Our Gruffalo room and classroom provide excellent role play areas in which the children can really explore their imagination. There is a children’s computer in each room and access to Kindle Fire Kids tablets with a variety of educational games and stories. There are plenty of opportunities for the children to write and draw, enabling them to develop their fine motor skills.
Both rooms offer maths, construction and natural treasure basket materials from which the children are encouraged to choose for themselves. Staff encourage and support children for example by taking turns and sharing resources. These early experiences prepare children and support transition to school.
Weekly peripatetic Spanish lessons give children the opportunity to learn a new language in a fun way.
We are proud to announce our nursery has received a national ‘Outstanding Food Award’ for our quality and commitment to children’s food and nutrition as part of the Healthy Active Little Ones (HALO) – East Sussex programme, funded by East Sussex County Council Public Health. We have the Children’s Food Trust Outstanding Food Award, as part of the Healthy Active Little Ones (HALO). This has been certified by the Children’s Food Trust who are the leading experts in children’s food. This means you can be sure the food on your child’s plate at Hopscotch is varied and nutritious and meets the Voluntary Food and Drink Guidelines for Early Years settings. We are committed to ensuring every child has the opportunity to eat well at our nursery. Our achievement of this Award demonstrates that we are dedicated to providing healthy food and drink for children. The Children’s Food Trust is on a mission to get every child eating well and believe that when children eat better they do better. We share that belief. So we are making sure the food we provide at our nursery gives children the energy and nutrition they need to fulfil their potential. We hope that you share our enthusiasm for the Award and will see the benefits good food brings in helping your children to grow, play and learn.
Babies and children under 2 years have their own rooms providing a safe and homely environment for them to play and develop with their own equipment and age-appropriate toys. They have their own nappy changing room and coat/bag storage area. There is a peaceful but stimulating atmosphere for babies to grow and discover new skills. Our babies also have a space discovery room which helps improve their sensory awareness; they participate in messy play which they love, with stories, singing and lots of cuddles.
For older children, the Gruffalo room and classroom provide a fun and stimulating learning environment with areas for imaginary and role play, reading and writing, maths and problem solving and construction, enabling children to develop at their own rate. The children also have access to our space discovery room which helps improve their sensory awareness. All of our rooms are furnished to a high standard with Community Playthings wooden equipment.
At Seaford we are very excited to have a fantastic softroom in our nursery. Our children enjoy climbing the soft steps and sliding into the ball pool, and benefit from the opportunity to bounce around and let off steam. It challenges and encourages their physical development and provides opportunities to socialise with their friends.
Hopscotch Seaford has a large, secure, outdoor area for the children to explore the many learning opportunities. Areas include climbing frames, large sand pit, teepee, tunnel, large wooden gazebo, role play and physical play on bikes and scooters with lots of room to run around.
We also offer a Kids Club school holiday scheme for children up to the age of 8 years old.

We love organising fundraising events as this means lots of dressing up days and fun activities for the children and staff. There are many interesting visitors to our nursery including farm animals, and the emergency services, dentist and doctor who all talk to the children about what they do and how they help us. These visits are always a hit with the children. Our children’s Christmas Concert in our local church is a festive tradition and is always very popular with parents.
We have outings to the park, library and beach and also the local French Market, which introduces the children to different sights, sounds and tastes. The older children also have trips to the Zoo, Farm and the Pantomime, where parents can come along too and join in the fun!
The children’s individual needs are met by our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator by planning strategies and targets using IEP’s and advice from professionals involved in the child’s care and a specialist support team. The Key Person will work with the SENDco to oversee the IEP targets for your child. They will also work with other practitioners to ensure provision is relevant and appropriate, and seek support when needed. For more information please see our Local Offer in full.
