Nurturing Happy, Independent Children for Over 38 Years
Hopscotch Hove Station is a warm and welcoming day nursery in central Hove, set within a homely-converted house just a short walk from Hove train station.
As part of the Hopscotch family, an independent group of nurseries founded in 1988 and still run by the same family today, Hove Station offers childcare for babies, toddlers and preschoolers aged 0 to 5 with the same care, values and consistency that families have trusted for decades.
Our smaller setting creates a calm, close-knit environment where children are supported to grow in confidence at their own pace.
Ofsted Outstanding, twice in a row
Since opening in 2016, Hopscotch Hove Station has been awarded two consecutive Ofsted Outstanding ratings, most recently in May 2022.
This reflects the high standards of care, teaching and leadership within the nursery, and gives families confidence that their child is in a setting where quality really matters. You can read our latest Outstanding inspection report to find out more.
A Hove nursery where relationships come first
As one of few Ofsted Outstanding nurseries in Hove, places are often in high demand.
Families tell us how much they value the relationships their children build here, both with staff and with other children. Our team take the time to get to know each child properly, creating an environment where children feel secure, settled and ready to explore.
We always recommend booking a visit so you can experience the setting for yourself and meet the team.
What a Typical Day Looks Like at Hove Station
At Hopscotch, childhood isn’t rushed.
Children learn, play and grow each day in a relaxed, home-from-home environment. The setting is designed to feel comfortable and familiar, helping children to settle in and build strong foundations for learning.
From creative play to small group activities, each day is thoughtfully planned while still giving children the space to follow their own interests.
Outdoor Play That Sparks Curiosity
Our large private garden is a much-loved part of daily life at Hove Station.
It is filled with well-chosen equipment and open-ended play opportunities, giving children plenty of space to explore, be active and develop their physical confidence. Outdoor play is part of the daily routine, whatever the weather.
Active Play Indoors, Every Day
Inside, our toddler room includes a soft play area with a ball pool and slide.
This gives children the chance to move, climb and build confidence in a safe and engaging space, while also encouraging shared play with others.
Learning Beyond the Nursery Walls
Through our Hopscotch Explorers programme, children take part in regular outings to local parks, Hove seafront and nature spots. These experiences help build curiosity, resilience and a stronger connection to the world around them.
Fresh, Flexible and Nutritious Mealtimes
We partner with Little Tums to provide award-winning meals that are balanced and tailored to a wide range of dietary needs, including vegetarian, vegan and dairy-free options.
Parents can choose to add hot lunches and teas, or provide a packed lunch from home, depending on what works best for their family.
