Early Years Teacher

Hopscotch Children’s Nurseries are looking for a Early Years Teacher at our Peacehaven nursery.

  • Hours: 42.5hrs per week, Monday-Friday
  • Holiday: 31 days per annum pro rata including statutory holidays. 3 days to be taken during the Christmas period
  • Salary: £21,000- £25,000 per annum

Requirements

  • Relevant Teaching Degree with QTS/Early Years Professional Status (EYP/EYT)
  • Two satisfactory relevant references
  • The ability to deliver the EYFS to a high standard
  • This post is subject to a DBS check at Enhanced level

Main Duties

  • To ensure the ethos, implementation and legal requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage
  • To care for and supervise groups of children assigned to them
  • To take an interest in the children and their families, to treat them as individuals and with respect at all times
  • To support senior members of staff to ensure appropriate Safeguarding procedures are put into practice
  • To support all co-ordinators eg, senco and equal opportunities in their duties
  • To assist in the keeping of development records and observations, and accident, incident and risk assessment records as appropriate
  • To achieve this the role of the Early Years Teacher is to establish relationships with the children and their parents, plan the learning environment and curriculum, supporting and extending children’s play, learning and development, and assessing their achievements and planning their next steps.
  • The Early Years Teacher must carry out the planning and implementation of age-appropriate curricula for children in accordance with the practice guidance of the EYFS, in consultation with the Nursery Manager and/or Management Team

Qualified Nursery Practitioner

Hopscotch Children’s Nurseries are looking for a Qualified Nursery Practitioner at our Brighton and Hove Station nurseries.

  • Hours: 40 hours per week Monday to Friday- all year round
  • Holiday: 31 days per annum pro rata, inc 8 statutory holidays (3 days holiday entitlement to be taken during the Christmas closure period)
  • Salary: NVQ L2 – £18,387.20 to £19,468.80 pa pro rata, NVQ L3+ – £19,468.80 to £23,000 pa pro rata

Requirements

  • Minimum of NVQ Level 2 in Childcare and Education or equipment
  • Two satisfactory relevant references
  • To demonstrate that you can read effectively and are able to communicate clearly and accurately in spoken and written standard English.
  • This post is subject to a DBS check at Enhanced level

Main Duties

  • To have a good understanding of children’s development, their needs and the provision of positive play
  • To care for and supervise the group of children assigned to them as Key Person.
  • To carry out the duties of a Key Person.
  • To provide at all times a warm and caring environment for babies and to be as consistent as possible regarding that environment.
  • To provide support for any children with special needs and to promote their welfare and development.
  • To support senior members of staff to ensure put appropriate Safeguarding Children procedures into practice.
  • To ensure that all information pertaining to Hopscotch, its operation, children, staff and parents remains confidential.
  • To support all co-ordinators eg, sendco and equal opportunities in their duties.
  • To assist in the keeping of development records and observations, and accident, incident and risk assessment records as appropriate
  • To attend staff meetings and training courses as directed by senior managers or tutors.
  • To go about your duties with a positive and enthusiastic attitude – to be organised, efficient, confident, hardworking and conscientious.
  • To promote at all times good relations between staff members, parents and children, and at all times promote the good name and ethos of Hopscotch.
  • To cover any other staff responsibilities as appropriate at the request of the Manager, particularly taking into account that unforeseen situations can occur when looking after children, and that the child’s care and welfare is paramount at all times.

Nursery Practitioner – Lunch Cover

Hopscotch Children’s Nurseries are looking for a part time nursery practitioner to cover the lunchtime period at our BrightonHove Station, Portland Road and Seaford nurseries.

  • Hours: 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday
  • Holiday: 28-31 inc 8 statutory holidays (3 days holiday entitlement to be taken during the Christmas closure period)
  • Salary: £8.43-£9.47 per hour

Requirements

  • At least two satisfactory relevant references
  • Current Basic Food Hygiene Certificate or willingness to gain
  • Paediatric First Aid Certificate or willingness to gain
  • To demonstrate the ability to read, write and communicate clearly and accurately in English
  • Childcare skills preferred
  • This post is subject to a DBS check at Enhanced level

Main Duties

  • To understand and demonstrate the importance of high standards for food safety, hygiene and cleanliness.
  • Your main duties will be to serve children’s hot and cold lunches and teas with associated kitchen and housekeeping duties.
  • To have an understanding of children’s development, their needs and the provision of positive play.
  • To care for and supervise the group of children assigned to them.
  • To ensure their safety at all times.
  • To take an interest in the children and their families, to treat them as individuals and with respect at all times.
  • To create an interesting and stimulating environment for the child to develop all their skills.

Bank Worker – Nursery Housekeeper

Hopscotch Children’s Nurseries are looking for a bank nursery housekeeper at our Peacehaven nursery.

  • Hours: Variable and only as and when required by the company by mutual consent
  • Salary: £9.45 per hour (£8.43 plus holiday pay), £10.06 per hour (£8.98 plus holiday pay) 23 years+

Requirements

  • Two satisfactory relevant references
  • This post is subject to a DBS check at Enhanced level

Main Duties

To be responsible for maintaining the highest level of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the nursery premises. This is achieved by:

  • Ensuring the daily thorough cleaning of all nursery rooms including floor coverings, walls and paintwork, windows etc
  • Ensuring the daily thorough cleaning of all nursery furniture and equipment
  • Ensuring the daily thorough cleaning of nursery kitchens including equipment such as microwaves, fridges and kitchen cupboards etc
  • Ensuring the daily thorough cleaning of child and staff toilet areas
  • Ensuring the daily thorough cleaning of other nursery areas including corridors, hallways, cloakrooms and all other areas of the nursery.
  • Maintaining sufficient supplies of domestic consumables eg. paper towels, toilet rolls, liquid soap, cleaning materials etc

Please note that while this is predominantly a cleaning position, we may sometimes require you to care and supervise children.
