To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week we are introducing you to our hardworking apprentices.

Meet Douries from our nursery in Seaford.

1. Why did you want to do an apprenticeship in Early Years?

I have always wanted to work with children ever since I was little. At college I studied for my Level 2 in Early Years and I grew extremely fond of working with younger children.

2. What does a typical day at nursery look like?

A typical day at nursery for me is a room filled with nothing but joy and laughter. Wherever you go in the nursery there is excitement and laughter.

3. What is your favourite part of the day?

My favourite part of the day would be participating in activities with the children. Watching all the children’s faces lit up with happiness brings joy to my day.

4. What is the best part about working with children?

For me, the best thing about working with children is watching the children grow and develop.

5. Would you recommend doing an apprenticeship? Why?

I would highly recommend doing an apprenticeship, I personally am learning so much more about the Early Years working in a setting compared to college. Working as an apprentice gives you so many new experiences to see and learn compared to reading it from a book.

6. Can share with me your fondest memory to date at Hopscotch?

My fondest moment from working at Hopscotch was my first day on 21stJune 2023. The staff and children were so kind and welcoming to me and made me feel like a part of the team from the off.

7. Where do you see yourself professionally in 5 Years? Do you think that’s achievable at Hopscotch?

In five years times I can see myself still working in the Early Years sector and hopefully working with children with SEN. I believe it is very achievable at Hopscotch as you get to learn so much and experience so many new things.
