A Cheepful Week at Hopscotch

There’s been a real buzz across our nurseries this week as we’ve welcomed the arrival of grey partridge chicks - and the children couldn’t be more delighted!

So far, 36 chicks and counting have hatched across our settings, each one met with fascination, gentle hands, and lots of thoughtful questions. Families at our Preston Park Stay & Play also got to share in the joy, watching the chicks hatch in real time.

Some of the names chosen by the children so far include Sprinkles, Snowflake, and several chicks called Henry - clearly a firm favourite!

We’re proud to be part of a national conservation project, helping to hatch and raise grey partridges before they’re released into the wild. It’s a meaningful experience that’s sparked care, curiosity, and conversation across our nursery communities.
