Caring for Our Coastline at Worthing
Our Hopscotch Worthing Preschool and Green group recently headed down to the beach for a litter picking adventure, helping to care for their local environment.
With litter pickers in hand, the children worked together to collect rubbish along the shoreline, chatting about why it’s important to keep our beaches clean and look after the world around us.
It was a lovely morning filled with fresh sea air, the sound of the waves and plenty of conversation along the way. On the walk back, the children kept the energy going by singing some of their favourite nursery songs.
We’re so lucky to have access to local initiatives like the Worthing and Adur council’s litter picking scheme, which makes it easy for us to get involved and make a positive difference.
Experiences like this also support children in developing an early understanding of environmental awareness. As we begin to explore themes around Earth Day, these hands-on opportunities help children learn how small actions, like tidying up outdoor spaces, can make a big difference. It encourages them to care for their surroundings and builds positive habits that can stay with them as they grow.
