Early Years Apprenticeships at Hopscotch Peacehaven: Meet Maisy

Maisie Peacehaven apprentice

As part of National Apprenticeship Week, we’re celebrating our apprentices across Hopscotch and sharing their stories. Throughout the week, we’re introducing the people who are learning, growing and building their careers with us.

Next up is Maisy, one of our Early Years apprentices at Hopscotch Peacehaven.

Why did you choose an apprenticeship in Early Years?
I chose an apprenticeship in Early Years to help grow my passion for working with children. It felt like the right way to gain experience while learning more about child development.

What does a typical day at the nursery look like for you?
A typical day for me can vary, as every day brings different challenges and rewards. I help set up new and fun activities, prepare healthy snacks and engage in play with the children. I’m always learning new things, which I really enjoy.

What’s your favourite part of the day?
My favourite part of the day is story time. It’s lovely to see the children come together, smile and enjoy themselves while exploring different story books.

What do you enjoy most about working with children?
For me, it’s seeing the positive impact I can have on the children, whether that’s something small like making them smile or supporting them during a group game.

Would you recommend doing an apprenticeship?
Yes, I would. An apprenticeship allows you to learn, gain hands-on experience and work towards a qualification all at the same time.

What is your fondest memory at Hopscotch?
My fondest memory is either seeing a child learn something new and the joy it brings, or the strong relationships we have as a team and how well we work together.

Where do you see yourself professionally in five years?
In five years, I hope to have gained all my qualifications. I do think this is achievable at Hopscotch, as there is lots of support and encouragement to grow and develop.

Maisy’s enthusiasm and care are clear in everything she does. Her positive attitude and commitment to learning make her a valued part of the Hopscotch Peacehaven team.
