World Bee Day at Hopscotch Seven Dials

A Bee-Friendly Planting Trip to St Ann’s Well Gardens
To mark World Bee Day, the children from our Seven Dials nursery took a trip to their local park, St Ann’s Well Gardens, for a morning of bee-friendly planting in partnership with the fantastic Friends of St Ann’s Well.
Armed with trowels and curiosity, the children helped plant a variety of pollinator-friendly plants – including fragrant lavender – to support the bees and other important insects that visit the gardens.
Planting with a Purpose
With support and guidance from the Friends of St Ann’s Well, the children got stuck into planting, learning about the kinds of flowers that attract and support pollinators. Lavender, with its vibrant colour and scent, was a particular favourite.
This simple, hands-on activity was a great way to explore how we can all contribute to supporting local biodiversity – starting with our green spaces.
Learning About Bees
World Bee Day is a reminder of how vital bees and other pollinators are for our environment and food systems. Through the planting session, the children learned how these small creatures play a big role in keeping our ecosystems healthy – and how we can help look after them.
A big thank you again to the Friends of St Ann’s Well for inviting us along. We’re always looking for ways to help our little ones learn through real experiences – and this one was a great reminder of how even small actions can support the world around us.
